General Curriculum
St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School uses the curriculum of the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Students at every grade level receive instruction in the following:
Core Academic Subjects:
- Religion
- Literature
- Language Arts (Spelling, Vocabulary, Grammar, Writing)
- Math
- Science
- Social Studies
In addition, students participate in the following enrichment specials once or twice a week:
- Spanish
- Technology
- Media (Library)
- Music
- Art
- Physical Education
- Guidance Counseling & Health
Participation in various co-curricular projects enhances and enriches our students' educational experience. Examples of projects include:
- Spelling Bee
- Oratorical Contest
- Geography Bee
- Academic Fair
- Battle of the Books
Yearly, students are assessed by standardized tests. Students in the first through eighth grade take the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS). In addition to the Iowa Test of Basic Skills, students in the second, fifth, and seveth grade also take the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT). And, students in the fifth and eighth grade take the Assessment of Catechesis/Religious Education (ACRE) test.
