Extracurricular Enrichment Activities
Lego Robotics Team: The Lego Robotics Team is open to students in the Middle School who desire to apply their scientific, mathematic, and research skills within a challenging, inquiry-based setting. Students work in groups to research and create a presentation on a annual topic determined by the FIRST Lego League, coupled with sessions during which they design and build a Lego robot with the goal of completing as many “missions” as possible during a very limited time. During its second year of existence, in the 2007-2008 academic year, our Lego Robotics team qualified for State’s Championship competitions, where they placed seventeenth out of forty-nine schools.
Junior Lego Robotics: Junior Lego Robotics is for students in the 2nd through 5th grade. This program is hosted by Terrific Scientific Atlanta on site at St. Catherine's. Sessions are weekly, with a fall session from September to December and a spring session from February to May.
