Extracurricular Activities

Lego Robotics Team
The Lego Robotics Team is open to students in the middle school who desire to apply their scientific, mathematic, and research skills within a challenging, inquiry-based setting. Students work in groups to research and create a presentation on a annual topic determined by the FIRST Lego League, coupled with sessions during which they design and build a Lego robot with the goal of completing as many “missions” as possible during a very limited time. During its second year of existence, in the 2007-2008 academic year, our Lego Robotics team qualified for State’s Championship competitions, where they placed seventeenth out of forty-nine schools.

Technology
Computer Explorers: St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School partners with Computer Explorers to offer technology enrichment classes.  Engineering I and Engineering II and Clay Animation are classes which are being offered this school year.

Music Program
School Mass Choir
Students in fourth through eighth grade are eligible to participate in our School Mass Choir, which sings at our weekly all-school Mass as well as with the Pueri Cantores Choir at St. Catherine of Siena parish. The School Mass Choir practices once a week after school.
Angel Choir
Students in Kindergarten through third grade can participate in the Angel Choir, which prepare them for the School Mass Choir as well as make them eligible to perform at the Sunday Masses at Saint Catherine of Siena parish. The Angel Choir practices once a week after school.
Band
Our Blazer Band program is available to students in fifth through eighth grade. Band performances take place at the Winter and Spring Concerts and Archdiocesan festivals. Individual Band students may accompany at Mass and other drama programs at the school.
Guitar, Piano, Voice
Private instruction in guitar, piano, and voice is available on-site after school to our students who wish to pursue further their musical talents.

Dance Program
Students from all age groups may participate in our dance program. Classes take place between September and May. Click here to download schedule and registration form (available via Edline also for school families.)

SCS Drama/Theater Club *New for 2010-2011
The SCS Drama/Theater Club is open to students in Kindergarten through fifth grade. This club  is an excellent addition to our Fine Arts curriculum and serves as a way for our students to express themselves, learn how to creatively work together as a team, and develop acting skills and experience.

Little Flower
Little Flower is a spiritual group for girls in first through third grade. Members of this group meet once a month to learn about various virtues and the saints. Spiritual projects and social events combine to help students grow in their faith with the support of their peers.

Boy Scouts and Daisies/Brownies/Girl Scouts
Students have the opportunity to join Boy Scouts and Daisies/Brownies/Girl Scout troops through St. Catherine of Siena Church.
