Home and School Association

The HSA needs your help to support all the committees involved. 

HSA Mission Statement

The mission of the Home and School Association at St. Catherine of Siena is to support and enrich the educational processes of the school. The HSA must mirror the tradition, standards, and teaching of the Catholic faith. It is the duty of the association to keep in mind the welfare of the students about all issues.

 

This includes:

​

  • Providing spiritual opportunities and fellowship that develops a strong and meaningful Christian community among school families, faculty, and administration.
     

  • Providing a vehicle of communication between parents and the school. Planning and coordinating fund-raising activities.
     

  • Providing interesting and informative programs relevant to the needs of the school community.

St. Catherine of Siena School unites with parents to serve its students and families. Parents are encouraged to participate in the many volunteer opportunities at the school. A vibrant Home and School Association (HSA) with more than 20 committees provides many volunteer opportunities for parents.

SCS HSA Committees 

Room Ambassadors
  • Serve as the liaison between the homeroom teacher and the parents.

  • Assist teachers with activities, projects, special events, class parties, and parent communication (as needed and requested by the teacher).

  • Celebrate and honor the birthday/feast day of the homeroom teacher and “adopted” (non-homeroom) teacher/staff member.

  • Recruit parent volunteers as needed.

  • *Oversee and coordinate the Gala Auction class project.

  • *Room ambassadors will receive guidance from the Gala Auction Committee for these projects.

 

Faculty/Administrative Staff Appreciation
  • Organize special treats (e.g., Parent-Teacher conference days, Catholic Schools Week Teacher/Admin. Staff Appreciation Day) to thank and honor the faculty and staff for all they do for our children throughout the school year.

  • Organize, solicit, or prepare food donations, decorations, and supplies; assemble faculty/staff gifts, set up tables, display food and refreshments; serve faculty/staff, and clean up on the day of various events

 

Lego Robotics - (After School Activity):
  • Break down complex STEM concepts into hands-on lessons using Legos.

  • Serve as lead of this after school activity.

 

Little Flowers Girls’ Club - (After School Activity):
  • The club serves girls, Kindergarten through 5th grade, in teaching them virtues through scripture, saint’s biographies, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. 

  • Serves as lead for this after school activity.

 

Gala Auction
  • Co-Chairs oversee and organize every aspect of this annual event.

  • Advertise and send reminders regarding the class project, basket donations, and the gala event using GroupMe, Siena Scribe, and the school website.

  • Help create grade-specific class projects for auction. 

  • Procure volunteers for the various gala activities

  • Assist with set-up and breakdown of the event.

  • Assist in putting together and organizing auction items.

  • Assist in entering data (ie items, packages, etc) into the online auction system prior to the event.

 

Science Olympiad - (After School Activity):
  • Assist middle school science teacher during weekly, after school, Science Olympiad meet-ups (typically once a week).

  • Guide and tutor participants on science concepts and projects.

  • Assist teacher with prep and Science Olympiad event logistics.

  • Chaperone at regional Science Olympiad event(s).

 

Fun Run
  • Organize this annual event that helps raise money for the school with the help of the students' participation.

  • Volunteers will tally the amount of laps each child runs.

  • Volunteers will hand out water and/or popsicles.

  • Assist with set-up and breakdown of the event.

 

Middle School Olympics
  • Organize a fun-filled day of Olympic-type events for the middle school students.

  • Volunteers will hand out water and/or popsicles.

  • Assist with set-up and breakdown of the event.

 

Uniform Sale
  • Co-chairs organize the collection and re-sale of gently used uniforms at designated times throughout the school year.

  • Coordinate parent volunteers to assist with set-up, customer service, and clean-up on dates of the sales.

  • Prepare unsold uniforms for donation.

  • Collect and record sales earnings records to report to the Business Manager.

 

 

Service Club - (After School Activity): 
  • Organize community-based service projects throughout the year with the help of the students' participation. 

  • Volunteers to help lead after school meetings with the club.

 

Wingo Bingo 
  • Helps organize this family fun social event. 

  • Assist with set-up and break-down of the event.

 

Simply Catholic Sisterhood
  • Organize all aspects of Mom’s Nights Out and yearly Mom’s retreat.

 

Spiritual Life
  • Assist our school families in need of prayers.

  • Organize meal trains for any families at SCS that may need extra help due to a loss in the family, a new baby, or an illness.

 

Bible Brick Builders - (After School Activity)
  • Help the Bible Brick Builders team gather the children to begin their weekly session and provide the necessary help to read the Bible, and hand out snacks, and club materials while ensuring the children are offered a safe and fun environment.

 

Chili Cookoff
  • Organize this fun family social event and contest.

  • Assist with set-up and breakdown of the event.

 

School Promotions
  • Create and decorate SCS Scarecrow for downtown Kennesaw’s & Acworth Fall Fest.

  • Decorate SCS Christmas Tree for their Christmas Fest.

 

Father Daughter Dance
  • Help organize and decorate the Parish Hall for this event. 

  • Organize light snacks and drinks for the event.

  • Assist with set-up and breakdown of the event.

 

Mother Son Kickball
  • Organize sign-up for the event.

  • Organize snacks, food & drinks for the event.

  • Assist with set-up and breakdown of the event.

 

Civics Committee
  • Organizes various civic activities throughout the school year, including the annual flag-raising ceremony.
