Home & School Association Committees

 

New Family Ambassadors
Co-Chairs: Megan Stuckey, Caroline Guarino, Anne Provost
  • Serve as Ambassador to incoming families to our school.
  • Welcome your assigned family prior to the start of the new school year and as needed throughout the year.
  • Serve as a resource for questions and provide information about events, activities, and procedures to ensure new families have the resources they need to feel welcomed into our school community.
 
 
 Room Ambassadors
Co-Chairs: Colleen Rodriguez, Heather Hamilton
  • Serve as the liaison between the homeroom teacher and the parents.
  • Assist teacher with activities, projects, special events, class parties and parent communication (as needed and requested by the teacher).
  • Celebrate and honor the birthday/feast day of homeroom teacher and “adopted” (non-homeroom) teacher/staff member.
  • Recruit parent volunteers as needed.
  • *Oversee and coordinate the Gala Auction class project and class theme basket.
*Room ambassadors will receive assistance from our Gala Auction Committee for these projects.
 
 
Faculty/Administrative Staff Appreciation
Co-Chairs: Colleen Rodriguez, Heather Hamilton
  • Organizing luncheons and special treats (e.g., Parent-Teacher conference days, Catholic Schools Week Teacher/Admin. Staff Appreciation Day) to thank and honor the faculty and staff for all they do for our children throughout the school year.
  • With the assistance of Room Parents, provide food, refreshments, and small tokens of appreciation to faculty and staff.
  • Organize, solicit or prepare food donations, decorations and supplies; assemble faculty/staff gifts, set-up tables, display food and refreshments; serve faculty/staff, and clean-up on the day of various events
 
 
Lego Robotics
Chair: Dan Clancy
  • Lego Robotics breaks down complex STEM concepts into hands-on lessons for kids of all ages using Legos. 
  • This committee will help students who sign up for this after-school activity. 
 
Events Promotions
Co-Chairs: Lydia Milam, Viviana Prince, Michelle Wild
  • Promoting all events within the school in order to keep families up to date on the school’s current events.
  • Creating images, banners, handouts, posters, photography to advertise events
  • Committees communicate events to be promoted within the school to the committee via email requests.
 
Gala Auction
Chair: Ellen Miccio
  • Co-Chairs oversee and organize every aspect of this semi-annual event.
  • Advertise using posters, Siena Scribe, and school website with the help of the Events Promotions Committee.
  • Donations are requested and collected by committee volunteers.
  • Class projects are created by each grade with the help of the Room Ambassadors.
  • Assist with set-up and break-down of the event.
  • Assist in putting together and organizing auction items
  • Assist in entering data (ie items, packages, etc) into the online auction system prior to the event.
 
Extra Curricular Activities
  • Help the school administration organize any after-school / extra activities outside of sports.

 

Science Olympiad 
  • Assist Mrs. Giles during weekly, after school, Science Olympiad meet-ups (typically once a week).
  • Guide and tutor participants on science concepts and projects.
  • Assist Mrs. Giles with prep and Science Olympiad event logistics.
  • Chaperone at regional Science Olympiad event(s). 
 
Fun Run
Co-Chairs: Jenny Nevle, Jessica Strey
  • Organize this annual event that helps raise money for the school with the help of the students' participation.
  • Advertise using posters, Siena Scribe, and school website with the help of the Events Promotions Committee.
  • Volunteers will tally the amount of laps each child runs.
  • Volunteers will hand out water and/or popsicles.
  • Assist with set-up and break-down of the event.
 
Middle School Olympics
Co-Chairs: Jenny Nevle, Jessica Strey
  • Organize this fun-filled day of Olympic-type events for the middle school students.
  • Volunteers will hand out water and/or popsicles.
  • Assist with set-up and break-down of the event.
 
 
Soccer
Chair: Tammy Rodric
  • Currently run by Challenger Sports International.
  • Team parents are needed to help supervise practices after school by grade level.
  • Team parents will be in charge of maintaining a GroupMe for their assigned grade level where all things will be communicated to parents (ie, changes in schedules, cancelled practices, delays in pickup, missing/lost items).
 
Uniform Sale
Co-Chairs: Bobbi McLure, Ellen Miccio, Jennifer Gerlaugh, Deborah Marker
  • Co-chairs organize the collection and re-sale of gently used uniforms at designated times throughout the school year.
  • Advertise sale using posters, Siena Scribe, and school website with the help of the Events Promotions Committee.
  • Coordinate parent volunteers to assist with set-up, customer service, and clean-up on dates of the sales.
  • Prepare unsold uniforms for donation.
  • Collect and record uniform donations to report to the Advancement Director.
  • Collect and record sales earnings records to report to the Business Manager.
 
Service Days
Co-Chairs: Lori Ross, Jessica Strey, Heather Roberto
  • Organize community-based service projects throughout the year with the help of the students' participation and in conjunction with teachers and the school administration.
  • Advertise using posters, Siena Scribe, and school website with the help of the Events Promotions Committee.
 
Parent Presentations
Co-Chairs: Jennifer Cifuentes, Donna McCall, Priscilla Velasquez
  • Organize informational events for parents/families throughout the school year.
  • Advertise using posters, Siena Scribe, and school website with the help of the Events Promotions Committee.

 

 
Grandparent's Day
Co-Chairs: Teri Kahn, Lisa Laposata, Emily Dodd, Kathy Glab
  • Co-chairs oversee and organize a fun-filled day of performances to thank our SCS grandparents for all their love and support.
  • Co-chairs recruit and organize parent volunteers to assist with set-up and clean-up, greeting of guests, serving of any food/drinks.
  • Advertise using posters, Siena Scribe, and school website with the help of the Events Promotions Committee.
 
Family Fun Nights
Co-Chairs: Stephanie Lawler, Maria Hale
  • Organize back-to-school nights, movie nights, and other social events throughout the year. 
  • Assist with set-up and break-down of the event.
  • Advertise using posters, Siena Scribe, and school website with the help of the Events Promotions Committee.
 
Simply Catholic Sisterhood
Co-Chairs: Viviana Prince, Tammy Rodric, Michelle Wild, Priscilla Velasquez
  • Organize all aspects of Mom’s Nights Out, and moms and dads retreats (usually one off site and one on site per year).
  • Advertise using posters, Siena Scribe, and school website with the help of the Events Promotions Committee.
 
High School Transition
Co-Chairs: Heather Donnelly-Ponte, Jenny Nevle, Karen Grantham, Nicole Benedict, Suzanne Cumbie, Rebecca Murphy
  • This committee is made up of parents who currently or recently have older children in the surrounding Catholic high schools. 
  • These volunteers are available to answer questions regarding the individual high schools and their entry requirements, student-life, etc.
 
Rewards Program
Chair: Beth Palacios
  • This committee handles any rewards programs that benefit SCS,(e.g., Coke Rewards, Box Tops, Amazon Smile, etc.)
  • Advertise using posters, Siena Scribe, and school website with the help of the Events Promotions Committee.
 
Enrichment
Co-Chairs: Jessica Strey, Ellen Miccio, Ginger Oliveto
  • The committee is in charge of developing and implementing hands-on activities and center days to enrich the curriculum at our school.
 
 
 
 
Spiritual Life
Co-Chairs: Suzanne Cumbie, Kristen Lichtenwalner
  • Assist our school families in need of prayers.
  • Organize prayer groups
  • Organize meal trains for any families at SCS that may be in need of extra help due to a loss in the family, a new baby or an illness. 
  • Help the Simply Catholic Sisterhood organize retreats for the moms and dads of SCS.

Open House
